Bold Mike Tannenbaum rates Jordan Love the best quarterback in NFL after Patrick Mahomes

Jordan Love is without a doubt a quarterback on the rise. After spending much of his fist two years backing up Aaron Rodgers, the third year QB balled out last season to take the Green Bay Packers to the playoffs. That performance had ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum gush over his future, and he placed Love second behind Patrick Mahomes as the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

The former executive and longtime analyst was discussing Jordan Love‘s contract talks on NFL Live. After having a brief discussion on what the projected salary will look like, Tannenbaum gave his opinion.

Outside of Patrick Mahomes, if we, the four of us, were running an NFL team today, there is nobody on the planet I’d rather have than Jordan Love. Period. 25 years old, can make all the throws, 6' 4", high character, high processor, can make people miss. The sky is the limit. If he was an IPO, I’d be like buying NVidia three years ago. He is, by far, to me, a player that has the most sustained upside.

Mike Tannenbaum was clear that he prefers Love over all the other quarterbacks in the league. Therefore, he would go ahead and pay the young QB before it’s too late.

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are in constant discussions about his contract. He will be an unrestricted free agent next season. Therefore, the Packers want to close out the negotiations as soon as possible. Tannenbaum feels that despite having only one full season under his belt, Love could command Joe Burrow-levels of money.

In that one season, without any elite receivers lining up throughout the season, Love still threw for over 4200 yards on the way to the playoffs. This upcoming season, he is poised to develop further.

Jordan Love could stake his claim as one of the best quarterbacks

Last season, the most assured insurance cover Jordan Love had was running back Aaron Jones. Along with Jones, none of the wide receivers or tight ends managed to go past 800 yards. It showed that Love knows how to spray the ball around and keep defenders guessing.

That led to a stupendous 21-1 TD to interception ratio from Week 11 up until the Wild Card round, suggesting that Jordan Love is starting to get a hang of the Packers offense. This season, he again might not have a true No. 1 receiver, but players develop over time. His receiving core and tight ends could make a jump in their production after off-season practices.

However, the addition of Josh Jacobs in the backfield means he will not have the receiving ability of Jones to bank upon. Therefore, even if the odds are still stacked against him, if Jordan Love could take his team to the playoffs, he could stake his claim to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He could maybe stand alongside Patrick Mahomes just as Mike Tannenbaum said.
