The Phoenix Suns are having a tough time in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. The team lost their second straight game against the Denver Nuggets in Round 2 and will now head back to Phoenix knowing they have no room for error. In Monday’s game against the Nuggets, the Suns lost 97-87, increasing their deficit to 2-0. In both games, the Suns’ players haven’t performed up to the mark, and now they have another reason to worry.
In the third quarter of Game 2 between the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns, Chris Paul injured his groin. With 4:32 left in the third quarter, Paul and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope got entangled while attempting to rebound the ball. Paul instantly grabbed his groin as he came falling, signaling an injury. The veteran guard immediately exited the game, ending the night with eight points, six assists, and five rebounds in 25 minutes.
The Suns and Paul’s concern won’t end anytime soon as the problem seems to be bigger than the team expected. Paul is expected to be absent in Game 3-5, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Charania said, “Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul is expected to be re-evaluated in one week after MRI on his groin injury today. Suns are preparing to be without Paul through Games 3-5, sources said.”
With Paul out of the next few games, more pressure will now pile up on the team which is already performing poorly. It’ll be interesting to see how the Suns plan on navigating through this situation without their star player.

Chris Paul injury update: Suns star set to miss three games
Chris Paul’s impending three-game absence will only hurt the Suns, who are already struggling in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets.
Kevin Durant and the Suns are down 0-2 after Nikola Jokic led his team to a gritty 97-87 win. Durant and Devin Booker worked together to contribute 59 points for their team but unfortunately fell short of securing a win. Although Durant put up decent numbers, he was criticized on NBA Twitter for his subpar shooting performance.
Durant and the team’s form have been questioned by critics all across the NBA. A team consisting of the likes of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Chris Paul has now lost two straight games. This led to the criticism of the Suns’ squad and specifically Durant, who had an awful shooting performance in Game 2. He shot 37% from the field, going 10 for 27. His 3-point shooting percentage was even lower, at 16.7% with 2 out of 12 shots made.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Suns plan on bouncing back from this and if they’ll even be able to lead a revival. Game 3 between the teams goes down on Saturday.
