NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI)- A restaurant has thousands of dollars worth of damage, after police say a Meridian driver crashed a pickup into the building.

Nampa Police says officers were called to a crash shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. They found a Silver 2002 Ford Ranger, that had driven through the front doors of the Hong Kong Restaurant on 12th Avenue South. The vehicle went completely into the building.

Police say the driver was northbound on 12th Avenue South. He was attempting to turn westbound on to 2nd Street South, but didn't make the turn.

Police say the total damage to the building is unknown, but it is estimated to be thousands of dollars. The vehicle also had "extensive damage," according to police.

The driver, 41-year-old Michael J. Ball of Meridian, was not injured in the crash. He was arrested on charges of Felony DUI and Felony possession of a controlled substance.

Ball was the only person in the vehicle, and nobody was inside the restaurant at the time of the crash. The crash also caused damage to a nearby street light.

Contractors hired by the restaurant are cleaning up the building.
