A war of words broke out between the former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn and Quincy Avery, the personal coach of the NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson. The exchange broke out on social media after Quinn took a jibe at the three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson for not being regular on the Cleveland Browns side. The QB has only ten starts in two seasons for the Browns and they are suffering because of this reason.
Raising a finger at this on his podcast, he said,
Everyone with a medical opinion has cleared Deshaun Watson. The situation is almost similar to a kid getting a $230 million trust fund. You ask them to get a job and they have no incentive to do it.Brady Quinn on ‘Two Pros and a Cup of Joe’
His indication was clear. He was pointing at the mammoth contract that Watson got while joining the Browns. He signed a deal worth $230 million. Now, after signing the deal, Watson only made ten appearances for the Browns and it was enough for Quinn to raise the concerns.
But what he did not expect was a clapback reply from Watson’s coach. Right after his remark on Watson went viral on X, Quincy Avery, the personal coach of the quarterback, took the issue to X and wrote:
Brady, I’m a be real. You don’t know what the f— you are talking bout, and sit behind a microphone gossiping like a little high school chick.
Quincy Avery on XThe matter could have stopped here, but only if the two had the minds to end things. Instead of making peace, they kept on throwing words at each other. Quinn asked Avery for an open discussion and Avery had his own way of dealing with that ‘invitation.’ However, after a few back-and-forths, the war of words faced a halt as Quinn took a brutal jibe:
How about we massage this conversation and get it to a happy ending? Does that sound satisfactory?
Brady Quinn’s words on Deshaun Watson do have some truth
Deshaun Watson’s case is a little complicated. He signed a $230 million contract and has hardly played ten games as a starter, why? He was suspended for eleven games for violating the NFL’s policy. It was alleged that Watson sexually assaulted more than 23 women and as a reason, was suspended from the league on disciplinary grounds. Hence, the team did not receive his service.
It was expected that Watson would make a grand comeback this season. However, that possibility is also fading with time. Apart from a PR disaster, the on-field returns have been minimal from Watson for the Cleaveland-based team.
This season, Deshaun injured himself in a match against the Indianapolis Colts. Later, he told the media that he was unsure whether he had re-injured his shoulder. Since he holds the position of a franchise QB his team has to protect him from the odds of injuries. It is unsure when he will make a comeback.
