LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — UK heavy metal pioneers Judas Priest announced that they will be returning to North America in the spring and summer of 2019 for an extensive series of shows.
“Metal maniacs, Judas Priest is roaring back to the USA for one more blast of Firepower!” the band said in a press statement. “Firepower 2019 charges forth with new first time performances born out of Firepower, as well as fresh classic cuts across the decades from the Priest world metalsphere. Our visual stage set and light show will be scorching a unique, hot, fresh vibe — mixing in headline festivals, as well as the in-your-face venue close-ups. We can’t wait to reunite and reignite our maniacs … the Priest is back!”
The tour kicks off on May 3rd at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and wraps on June 29th at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
Judas Priest will be supporting their Firepower, their 18th studio album, which debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 in March 2018. The album was their first studio release since 2014’s Redeemer of Souls.
The tour will also be the first for the band since guitarist Glenn Tipton revealed that he was stepping back from performing full time with the band after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
“I decided that it was really going to be too much for me,” Tipton told Guitar World in March. “With the medication and the time zone changes and everything else, I realized it was time to retire—from touring at least. I don’t ever want to compromise Judas Priest. It’s too big a part of my life.”
British guitarist and record producer Andy Sneap is filling in for Tipton for the tour.
