CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) is going to investigate 5 current Caldwell Police officers and a former officer for possible decertification.
Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram tells CBS2 News the allegations against the officers came up during the FBI’s investigation into the department. Ingram said most of the allegations are administrative and the officers are not under criminal investigation by the FBI.
If the allegations are proven true, Ingram said the officers could face discipline, demotion, suspension or decertification from POST.
The officers have been relieved from field duties and reassigned until the POST and FBI investigations are complete. Ingram said an internal affairs investigation by an outside source will run parallel to the POST investigation.
CBS2 has reached out to POST for more information on its investigation.
Federal investigators have been looking into Caldwell Police Department, and one Lieutenant has been charged.
According to a federal indictment, Lt. Joseph Hoadley used unreasonable force during an arrest in March of 2017 causing "bodily injury to B.H."
Hoadley is scheduled for trial in September. He has pleaded not guilty.
